THE 2024 Oscars’ biggest award was unveiled in an unusual way.
Legendary actor Al Pacino took to the stage to present the Academy Award for Best Picture to Oppenheimer – and viewers were shocked when he didn’t read out the nominees before saying that his “eyes saw” Oppenheimer on the card.
“Al Pacino’s Oscar announcement of best picture was the most chaotic, confusing, and anticlimactic moment of an otherwise enjoyable award show,” one viewer slammed on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Oppenheimer, undoubtedly, deserves Best Picture. I wish it had been announced by Al Pacino in the way it should have been. That unveiling was anticlimactic,” another said.
The final award came after Emma Stone won Best Actress for her performance in Poor Things and accepted the award while facing a wardrobe malfunction.
As Emma gave an emotional speech, her friend Jennifer Lawrence was seen breaking into tears behind her after presenting the award with four other former Best Actress winners.
Earlier in the ceremony, Billie Eilish and Finneas made Oscar history as the youngest two-time winners ever when they won Best Original Song for What Was I Made For?
While Barbie won Best Original Song, Oppenheimer took home the award for Best Original Score and continued to sweep the categories as Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr and Christopher Nolan won Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Director, respectively.
