England face footballing minnows Malta at Wembley on Saturday evening.
Interim boss Gareth Southgate, who has indicated Wayne Rooney will start , has called for his players to be brave and exciting following the departure of Sam Allaryce.
The former Bolton boss made a string of controversial comments that threw the Football Association into a tailspin last week, with the under-21s boss parachuted in as his temporary replacement.
Southgate will act as interim England manager for the next four games while the FA looks for a permanent replacement.
That run kicks off on Saturday October 8 when England face Malta at Wembley.
The game, which kicks off at 5pm, will be shown on ITV .
Southgate said: “I want them to be brave, I want them to excite the supporters.
“We followed that through with the junior teams, right the way through, and I think that’s one of the most important messages, from my point of view: any England team that goes out, I want to see them play with style.”
