Former United star David Beckham caused a stir on a night out in Manchester – even if he did attempt to escape the paparazzi with a back entrance dash through a load of wheelie bins.

Becks was in town supporting his whisky brand Haig Club which has a dedicated new room inside the new-look Living Room on Deansgate.

Invited guests packed into the celeb haunt venue and got the chance to pose for photos with the footballer on Monday night.

But it was a rather less than glamorous entrance for the international heart-throb who decided to arrive via the back door through a maze of bins.

There were no such worries for the rest of his glitzy night out in the city – for after meeting fans at the Living Room he then joined friends for an exclusive dinner at the swanky Manchester House bar and restaurant on Bridge Street.

The venue, with head chef Aiden Byrne at the helm, is usually closed on a Monday night. But they opened specially for Becks and his group to get some award-winning gourmet food while in town.

Meanwhile, Beckham’s visit to The Living Room starts an exciting week for the long-established bar and restaurant. It reopens to the public today after a major revamp, with a launch bash planned for Thursday night.
