Man United midfielder Paul Pogba played like a great” for France against the Netherlands, according to his international team-mate Dimitri Payet.
The 23-year-old, who’s come under fire since his world-record move to Old Trafford , was the man of the match in Les Bleus’ 1-0 win against the Netherlands in Amsterdam.
Pogba capped his assured performance with the only goal of the game and appeared to send a message to his detractors with a muted celebration.
Payet feels the United midfielder can now handle the pressure placed on him in recent weeks and build on an impressive performance against the Netherlands.
“He was like normal in the dressing room afterwards – happy – and, in addition, he scored,” he said after the World Cup qualifier at the Amsterdam Arena.
“It is good for him.
“There is a lot of expectation around him – it does not help him. He has been attacked a lot but he has stayed strong calm and he played like a great.”
