German MP Heribert Hirte, of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany party, said there had been discussions to clarify if the document could be withdrawn at some point.

Mr Hirte, who is a member of the EU Affairs and Justice Committees of the Bundestag, added there was little clarity over whether Article 50 also included the UK pulling out of the European Economic Area, which allows for the free movements of people, goods, services and capital within the European Single Market.

Speaking to Bloomberg, he said: “This is not absolutely clear, whether Article 50 can be reversed.

“There is a discussion, just yesterday in a meeting on this, and a couple of days ago in the EFTA Court in Luxembourg, that there is a possibility to just withdraw the declaration to withdraw from the UK.

“There is one point which is open, it’s the question whether the declaration of the UK also includes withdrawal from the European Economic Area.

“So there is not much space open, also for interpretation of what the UK could send to the European Union but also what the consequence is.”

Meanwhile, Polish workers have started to ditch the “sinking ship” of Britain, and attract businesses from China and the Middle East.

In a shocking snub to Britain, Polish businessmen have mocked the “slow-moving car crash” of Brexit.

Britain has welcomed millions of Polish migrant workers in the past two decades, who came to the country at the height of free movement in the European Union.

However, the country in central Europe is gradually becoming a driving force of the continental economy, with an expected four per cent rise in GDP this year.

Economic forecasts are up across the European continent, after a restored political confidence following Emmanuel Macron‘s victory in France.
