THE TORQUAY HAUNTING? Objects thrown around museum shop by ‘poltergeist’

CCTV in the Torquay Museum shop captured an eerie episode where the literature seemingly has a mind of its own. 

Two members of staff, not standing near the shelves, are in shock when books begin flying off he bookcase. 

David Wills’s colleague has her back turned, and quickly turns around when the leaflets come flying down. 

Mr Wills points towards the bizairre sight near the front of the shop, and the pair have a brief conversation before he walks over to pick up the scattered papers.

But just as he bends down to scoop up the pile and whole flurry of books come cascading down, taking Mr Wills by surprise. 

The museum researcher is stunned, and points to the shelf where the paper was just ejected from. 

Both colleagues seem perplexed as they stand around the scattered papers, before scarpering out the museum shop without tidying the pile up.

And another series of unexplained events were captured on camera at a store in Barnsley, where goods mysteriously move around by themselves. 

Books fall off shelves, skateboards come off walls, and figures get knocked over at the Barnsley Antique Centre, in South Yorkshire. 

The camera filmed the bizarre goings-ons over a year, and all happen when no one is close enough to touch any of the objects.

In one clip, a man is on the other side of the shop and seems bemused when a figure falls to the floor.

Clad in a baseball cap, he calmly walks over a picks it back up to put back on the shelf.

A series of unexplained events were captured on camera

He said: “We have been open a year and have probably had 50 incidents happen.

“Most are caught on CCTV and some truly bizarre happenings, which our customers have witnessed and an even more bizarre unexplained figure witnessed by myself.

“And I’m a non-believer, so it does make you think twice if there is something else out there.”

He drafted in a specialist team of ghost hunters to analyse the premises, and they concluded that the shop was built on a former cemetery which could be the root cause of the trouble. 

They also suggested that the old nature of the items may be attracting curious spirits, who are simply interested in the merchandise.
