Canadian lawmakers are reportedly set to remove the crime of
operating a canoe while drunk from its statutes, as the country
overhauls laws ahead of the legalisation of marijuana. Canadians
who get drunk and go canoeing may still face public intoxication
charges, but will no longer have their driving licence suspended or
their car impounded.

Police open fire on actor ‘robbing bank’

Indiana state police have apologised to an actor after an
officer opened fire on him while he was filming a scene. Officers
were responding to reports of a armed robbery at a brewery when the
actor emerged from a building wearing a balaclava and holding a
gun, prompting one officer to discharge his weapon. The actor was
unharmed.

Man falls from balcony while spitting on pedestrians

A man is recovering in hospital after he fell from a New Orleans
balcony while trying to spit on pedestrians walking below in
Bourbon Street. Police on horseback were used to clear the crowd to
let an ambulance through to take him to hospital.
