Vikings fans go wild for ‘epic’ season 5B finale as they get first look at show’s sixth series

Fans had no doubt that the Vikings season 5B finale was going to be big and they weren’t left disappointed, with viewers branding the episode a ‘masterpiece’.

The finale was the penultimate chapter that saw the Sons Of Ragnar battling it out to the death in an attempt to bring down Ivar The Boneless, before the show comes to a close for good next season.

The battle of Kattegat brought with it an episode full of death and destruction and had viewers clinging on to the edge of their seats, as they tweeted their excitement over the bloody scenes on Twitter.

Despite it being heavily hinted that Alexander Ludwig’s character Bjorn was set to fall in battle, he survived the ordeal.

While things didn’t look good at first, he managed to triumph alongside brother Hvitserk and found a way in to seek out Ivar, thanks to Freydis.

But her willingness to help came at the cost of her life and she was killed by Ivar, before he managed to flee.

Fans rushed to hail Bjorn as he was crowned King and were blown away by the scenes that played out in the final episode, describing Vikings as the ‘greatest show ever’ as they shared their anticipation over its sixth season.

Taking to Twitter as the finale wrapped, viewers wrote: ‘Wow whatta a great finale holy crap.

‘Goddamnit….#Vikings got me right in the damn feelz!! ALL HAIL KING BJORN.

‘Michael Hirst you have completely done it again. Finale sparked every emotion.

Viewers got a taste of what’s to come in the show’s final season, as a teaser for series six aired at the end of the episode – revealing its next season is ‘coming soon’.

With unfinished business, it seems the bloodshed isn’t over as Ivar plans to ‘unleash his forces over his brothers’ in yet another brutal attack.

The countdown is on.
