Arsenal have confirmed that Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been ruled out of their clash with Manchester United with a minor back problem.

Mkhitaryan started Arsenal’s last seven matches in all competitions – and played the full 90 minutes versus Rennes on Thursday night – but will play no part against former club United.

The Armenian midfielder will have been desperate to impress on Sunday afternoon following an underwhelming one-and-a-half year spell with United.

Unai Emery has opted for an ultra-offensive line-up at the Emirates, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey all selected in attack to take on the Red Devils.

The Gunners are looking to bounce back from their thumping 3-1 defeat to Rennes with a victory over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s in-form side.

‘Micki misses #ARSMUN with a slight back issue,’ Arsenal’s official Twitter account tweeted ahead of kick-off.

‘Wishing you a speedy recovery!’

Solskjaer has made three changes to his side which completed an stunning comeback against PSG in midweek.

Paul Pogba, who was suspended for the Champions League clash, returns to United’s starting XI and the Frenchman is joined by Nemanja Matic in midfield.

At right-back, Diogo Dalot starts following Eric Bailly’s struggles in the first half at the Parc des Princes.
