Ever since Regina Daniels got married to 59-year-old Ned Nwoko,
the gossip mill has been spinning fresh tales about every action
she takes.
Regina Daniels’ marriage to Ned Nwoko has stirred quite a lot of
controversy. As a young budding actress, many expected her to
date series of young handsome men and then, finally ‘settle down’
with one of them. This was not the case and for this reason, many
Nigerians condemned Regina Daniels’ marriage to Ned Nwoko.
Regina introduced Ned to Nigerians by parading a suddenly
acquired wealth. Immediately, strong indications stating that the
wealth of the Nollywood actress was not solely from her hardwork
and movie making arose. Reports were launched, and the strong
backbone for Regina Daniels was named as Prince Ned Nwoko, a former
House of Representative member from Idumuje-Ugboko in Anioma North,
Delta State.
Prince Nwoko, a lawyer, businessman and politician, owns one of
the biggest resorts in Africa, Camp Ned; which sits on 43,000
hectares of prime and lush land at his hometown of Idumuje-Ugboko,
which also serves as a haven for him and his wife, Regina Daniels.
Previously married to several, Ned Nwoko has been the one splashing
cash and spoiling Regina Daniels silly with expensive gifts. He
bought her the expensive cars which the actress brandished on
social media, amongst others.
At first, there were unconfirmed reports that Regina Daniel’s
mom, Rita Daniels was aware of her daughter’s relationship with Mr.
Nwoko. Critics blamed her for being in support of their affair just
because she was getting mouth watering gifts from the billionaire
politician.
Recall that before it was confirmed that Ned Nwoko was the man
behind the Daniels’ sudden wealth, the 21-year-old Nollywood star,
Regina, took to her Instagram account to post photos of a
magnificent house she ‘got’ for her mother. She posted the picture
of the house with a caption: “Just a little thank you for

On Thursday, June 13, 2019, after Regina’s official marriage to
Ned, she took to her Instagram page to announce a new movie she
would be acting in. However, she conveniently left out the name of
the producer of the movie. What was not made clear was the motive
behind this new movie.
Nigerians were excited for Regina because most of the time,
Nollywood actresses stop acting after their marriage. Only a few
actresses would be able to make a comeback. Now, this may be due to
family pressure or the husband’s unwillingness.
Nollywood actor, Bolanle Ninalowo who was seen on
different photo with the yound actress took to his Instagram page
to let the cat out of the bag. He posted a picture of himself
posing with Ned Nwoko’s Lamborghini. This got tongues wagging but
what really shocked Nigerians was the fact that the movie was being
produced by Regina’s mother, Rita Daniels.
According to the British Broadcasting Corporation on average,
producing a movie in Nigeria costs between $25,000 and $70,000. The
films are produced within a month and are profitable within two to
three weeks of release. Now that’s a lot of money, and Ned Nwoko
obviously has this money in abundance. Could Rita have
foreseen this benefit and then forced her daughter to get married
to Ned?
During Regina’s tradition wedding to billionaire politician, Ned
Nwoko, in Ogwashi-Alor in Delta State on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, she
was spotted looking very sad. Her mother was the one that was all
smiles.
This was the same case on her induction into the Otu-Udu group
earlier done on Sunday, May 26, 2019, in Anioma, also in
Delta-State. Though Regina looked terribly sad during the event,
her mum, Rita Daniels, together with other elders gave her hand out
in marriage.
At this point, Nigerians came hard for Rita Daniels, as they
felt she was merely living her life through her young
beautiful daughter.
At a time, it seemed the entire situation was going to come to
an end as a man claiming to be the actress’ father spoke out.
According to him, he was not in support of her wedding to the
billionaire. The supposed father bears the name Jude Ojeogwu on
Facebook. In a very passionate post, he went down memory lane and
shed light on his relationship with the actress. According to him,
Regina’s full name is Regina Daniels Ojeogwu. He also said
that Regina’s wedding to Ned Nwoko was her mother Rita’s idea. He
blamed her for fiddling with her daughter’s life by giving her hand
out in marriage.
Jude also hammered on the fact that Regina was not supposed to
go through with the initiation ceremony as she was not a native of
Olor but of Ogwashi Uku. The alleged father was upset that all his
attempts to reach Ned has proven abortive. To prove that he was
truly the father of Regina Daniels, Jude revealed their former
house address and made his phone number public. Even more, Jude
Ojeogwu shared a photo of a younger Regina hanging out with other
family friends.

This outburst was to no end as Regina herself took to her
Instagram page to deny the man. She wrote: “Every Dick and
Harry claiming to be my father.. That is if i have one. Yo! I know
who my father is”.
Within the past several decades, a shift has been observed in the
relationship patterns of many mothers and daughters. Many mothers,
like Rita Daniels, seem to have abandoned the traditional hierarchy
of parent and child for a relationship of equals, identifying with
each other more as “best friends.” BFF (best friends forever)
mothers embrace their daughters’ lives, sharing them and, at times,
walking in their footsteps.
A close, friendly mother-daughter relationship is not in itself
a cause for concern. But when the boundaries of the relationship
become blurred, this can lead to confusion regarding what is
acceptable within the context of the relationship. When the
roles of a mother and daughter become entangled, this is described
as an enmeshed relationship and this is the kind of relationship
Rita Daniels currently has with her daughter.
In an enmeshed relationship, a mother provides her daughter love
and attention but tends to exploit the relationship, fortifying her
own needs by living through her daughter. They both grow to depend
on this type of arrangement, despite its dysfunction.
An end should be put to this. Everyone has his or her own live
to live and no one should try to correct the mistakes of his or her
own past through the lives of their children.
