Under new rules, they’ll also be allowed to grow beards up to half-an-inch long. 
Sikh police officers in New York will now be allowed to wear their turbans while on duty.
Rather than hats, Sikh officers will be permitted to wear a navy blue turban instead with the NYPD insignia attached.
