ITV soap Emmerdale just possibly pulled off the biggest soap shocker of the year when Holly Barton died after a suspected overdose.
The popular soap character’s death came just weeks after actress Sophie Powles announced that she had quit the show months after her character’s return, and soap fans were left gobsmacked at the death, with many praising the show bosses for keeping the twist a major surprise.
‘Emotional’ and ‘ruined’ were just two words fans were using as they took to social media to make sense of the death.
And there was a lot of praise for ITV.
