It’s that time of the year again, when you can dust off your lederhosen and don your dirndls before guzzling a stein of Bavarian beer.
Oktoberfest 2016 is in full swing, and while the original event goes off in Munich, there’s no need to feel like you’re missing out.
Always one to take up a party, Manchester has plenty of Oktoberfest festivals for you to choose from – some feature limited edition beers, while others offer free food and drink.
Here’s a round up of the best Oktoberfest events in Manchester.
Manchester Oktoberfest
Manchester Oktoberfest
What: Based in Albert Square, this is one of the biggest Oktoberfest celebrations in Manchester. With a capacity of 2,000, the atmosphere is always buzzing as merry drinkers sup their steins on the long communal benches.
The website also boasts an outfit section where you can order your lederhosen in advance, so no excuses for not dressing up.

Stocktoberfest
Stockport Masonic Guild Hall
What: Stockport needn’t miss out on the celebrations – Heaton Moor’s acclaimed craft beer and wine bar Bottle are celebrating by putting on a party at the town’s stunning Masonic Guildhall. The event will be packed with over 25 different German beers and a prize for the best fancy dress.

Oktoberfest 2016, Albert’s Schloss
What: The party beer hall of Manchester, Albert’s Schloss has managed to stock a special selection of limited edition beers for their Oktoberfest celebrations. Leading Bohemia brewers Spaten, Hacker Pschorr, Lowenbrau, Paulaner, and Hofbrau will be on tap, while raucous music and entertainment will be on stage.

Oktoberfest, Portland Street
What: Not only is this event free, tickets also include two beers and a food voucher – now that’s an offer you can’t refuse. Run by Bruntwood, the Oktoberfest takes place in the car park underneath its offices on Portland Street. Food will be provided by Fat Annie’s, serving up a currywurst special, and Good Wolf who will be offering beer-braised pork tacos with sauerkraut and mustard.

Bierkeller’s Oktoberfest
Manchester Bierkeller
What: They say Manchester is a city that thinks a table is for dancing on. That’s practically compulsory in Bierkeller, the Bavarian beer hall, which is throwing a special two week long beer bash. The bar is also offering 2-4-1 steins (£6.85) until 8pm from Sunday to Thursday, and a live oompah band to get you in the Oktoberfest mood.
