Flush usage is monitored with an electric swipe card
Students at a college in China have been given a monthly toilet flushing quota and told to pay if they exceed their limits.
To monitor the situation, they have been given electronic passes which they have to swipe before any water is released.
Every student gets 3,000 litres per month, and if they go over they will have to pay excess charges, which have not been specified, reports Chuncheng Evening News.
Kunming Health Vocational College is in Yunnan province, which has endured serious droughts in recent years.
The move, which may seem draconian, is in a bid to cut down on waste water.
