The cup derby between Manchester United and Manchester City will take place on Wednesday October 26 at 8pm.
The two teams will meet in the EFL Cup fourth at Old Trafford, in front of Sky TV cameras, for the second time this season, with the Reds out to gain revenge for the Blues’ 2-1 win on September 10.
That saw the resumption of hostilities between old rivals Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola , although this time all the hostility was confined to the pitch.
United ended a three-match losing streak by beating Northampton in the third round, while cup holders City won an all-Premier League affair at Swansea to set up the derby.
The two clubs have a long history of clashes in the competition, with United triumphing in the 2010 semi-final over two legs and City winning at the same stage in 1969.
They also clashed twice in the mid-70s, United defying their second division status to win 1-0 in 1974 and the following year – after they were promoted – City hammered them 4-0 at Maine Road.
