Manchester City exile Joe Hart rolled back the years with a series of unbelievable saves to spare England’s blushes against Slovenia.

The Three Lions were second best for much of the match – failing to register a shot on target in the first-half – and had the 29-year-old to thank for a magnificent performance.

The first stop was after a poor backpass from midfielder Eric Dier, which put striker Roman Bezjak clear on goal, midway through the first-half.

Hart, in trademark style, raced off his line to narrow the angle and managed to close Bezjak out before the ball fell to Jasmin Kurtic – who then hit the post.

The situation did not improve after the restart and Hart was left with an arm injury after somehow tipping Kurtic’s header onto the crossbar shortly after the break.

Hart, who is on loan at Torino, later denied Josip Ilicic when he was bearing down on goal after defender Gary Cahill missed a tackle.

City defender John Stones also played in the match and was one of the few positives from an otherwise flat England performance in the 0-0 draw.
