Bastian Schweinsteiger has shown his dedication to maintaining a fitness by uploading a picture of his gym work away from Manchester United’s training ground.

Schweinsteiger, 32, is no longer training with the United Under-23s and his training sessions are scheduled later in the day, restricting the German’s interactions with his old first-team colleagues.

The former Bayern Munich midfielder was photographed in Hale on Wednesday after enjoying a workout in a nearby gym and Schweinsteiger re-emphasised his dedication on Twitter.

“Done for today,” Schweinsteiger tweeted, with a photo of him in his gymnasium attached to the post.

M.E.N. Sport revealed in July Schweinsteiger was training with the United U23s after Jose Mourinho cut him from his senior squad, yet he has not been considered for selection as an over-age player in any of second string’s Premier League 2 fixtures so far.

Schweinsteiger suggested he would be open to moving to the MLS next year.

“The MLS transfer window is closed,” Schweinsteiger said in August. “So it won’t happen this season.”

While injured in March, Schweinsteiger flew to Miami to watch his wife, Ana Ivanovic, play in the Miami Open.

Schweinsteiger made 13 Premier League starts for United last season and managed only four substitute appearances in the last four months of the campaign.

He did, however, regain fitness to feature prominently for Germany at Euro 2016, scoring in their opening 2-0 win over the Ukraine.
