Mancheser City have explained why some supporters were forced to miss the kick off for Saturday’s game against Everton due to long queues outside the Etihad.

Some fans were left waiting to get to their seats for as long as 15 minutes into the 1-1 draw.

It was believed that extra security measures had caused the queues outside the South Stand, but it was later explained that a power loss to a turnstile was to blame.

Supporters took to social media to tweet their frustration over the delays, with fans seen streaming into the ground long after the game had gotten underway.

A City spokesman said: “A turnstile block temporarily lost power, which meant some supporters were redirected to an alternative entrance.

“We thank supporters for their co-operation and patience.”

But that did not help the frustration of supporters.

Viewfromablue tweeted: “Would not like to be City’s stadium manager tomorrow.

“New turnstile system, turnstiles broken, 1000s upon 1000s outside in huge queues.”
