WWE’s latest PPV Hell in a Cell took place last night, as the Raw roster attempted to assert their dominance over the flagging Smackdown brand.
The event centered around three matches taking place inside the cell structure, where in a piece of WWE history, two women main evented a PPV for the very first time.
Charlotte Flair defeated Sasha Banks to once again claim the WWE Women’s Championship in brutal and engrossing match, but one that ultimately lacked true drama and quality worthy of a main event.
The two wrestlers are both very talented and have had excellent bouts before, but the lure of the cell had long disappeared by the time they both entered the ring, and many of their dramatic moments had already happened in previous matches.
Considering WWE’s past treatment of female wrestlers, this progress is terrific however, and hopefully will be the first of many high profile women’s matches.
