WEATHER WARNING: UK set for bitter winter plunge as snowfall could hit Britain this week

This week will see temperatures dramatically drop, and weather experts have even warned the season’s first snowfall could be about to hit the UK.

Expect thermometers to nosedive tomorrow, as harsh northerly winds replace mild southerly breezes, causing temperatures to struggle to reach eight degrees, a bitter change from the 18C recorded earlier this afternoon.

As the week draws to a close, temperatures will fall even further, likely reaching freezing in Scotland, Wales and even Devon and Cornwall by the weekend. 

And with the cold weather, there is a chance of snow falling in Scotland and the north of England over the next few days.

Temperatures are expected to reach freezing by the end of the week

James Madden, forecaster for Exacta Weather, has warned of “significant” snowfall before December.

He said: “Things are turning much colder from the north this week with the cold spreading to other parts of the country, paving the way for a quite cold and much more traditional November period.

“This will bring an increase in the snow risk levels across the country in among some periods of unsettled weather.

“The first notable wintry blast and potentially widespread snow showers will occur during the early part of November and there will also be ample amounts of fog and frost for many within this period too.”

A spokesman from The Weaher Outlook added: “Over high ground in the north significant snowfall is a possibility.”

It comes as temperatures rose as high as 21C in Wales today as freak Halloween sunshine hit the UK.
