Manchester United will sign off for 2016 with a home match against Middlesbrough.
Jose Mourinho knows Boro boss Aitor Karanka well, after the two worked together at Real Madrid, and the two remain friends but the three points are vital for United in their quest to land Champions League football next season.
This match is swiftly followed by a trip to West Ham on January 2, but the manager warned in his press conference not to expect rotation with his eyes firmly set on a final victory of the calendar year.
Wayne Rooney misses out after failing to recover from the injury that sidelined him against Sunderland. Luke Shaw is the only other confirmed absentee, but Morgan Schneiderlin and Memphis Depay also do not feature ahead of expected January moves.
For the visitors, Fabio and Victor Valdes are familiar faces for United fans, while former City striker Alvaro Negredo is the man leading the line.
