of the 2016-17 campaign, but players from Everton and Southampton
also make the grade

Unsurprisingly, Chelsea stars feature heavily in all the
selections, with Spurs also contributing several players. 

But players from other teams have also made an impact this
season.

Here’s The Week’s pick of the experts’ picks from the
campaign:

Goalkeeper: David de Gea (Man Utd)

It hasn’t been a great season for goalkeepers, says ESPN, but “the Manchester United number
one has arguably been the most consistent”.

Defence: Marcos Alonso, Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz (all
Chelsea), Virgil van Dijk (Southampton)

The Chelsea trio were the three best defenders in the Fantasy
Premier League game and all scored 170 points or more. They are
joined by the Saints defender, who gets the nod from Jamie Redknapp
in the Daily Star. He could also be playing in
Chelsea blue next season.

Midfield: N’Golo Kante, Eden Hazard (both Chelsea), Dele Alli
(Spurs), Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)
The Champions once again
contribute heavily to midfield. Kante was named PFA and the
football writers’ player of the season, while Hazard was
back to his best this year. He also finished the season with a
rating of 98 on Fifa 17 – the highest in the
league.

Alli won young player of the year this season and scored one
more Fantasy Premier League point than Hazard, finishing as
second-highest scorer overall. He is the jewel in Spurs and
England’s crown and the man to replace Wayne Rooney as the nation’s
biggest star, says Garth Crooks of the BBC.

The only man to score more fantasy points than Alli was Sanchez,
who single-handedly kept Arsenal in the hunt for a top-four finish.
It wasn’t to be, however, and he may not be around next season.

Attack: Harry Kane (Spurs), Romelu Lukaku (Everton)

Kane won the Golden Boot in style with seven goals in the final
two games of the season for Spurs. “To score more than 20 goals in
one season is impressive, but to do it for three consecutive
seasons is quite remarkable. To win a second Golden Boot in your
third season is a fitting tribute to Harry Kane’s exploits,” says
Crooks of the BBC.

Lukaku finished second to Kane in the goalscoring charts,
netting 25 times over the season. He’s in demand this season and
Everton will have a struggle holding onto the striker, who could
conceivably become the first £100m player if a bidding war breaks
out.
