Despite paramedics’s best efforts she died at the scene
The victim of the horrific attack in the carpark of has been named as Molly McLaren, aged 23.
She has been named locally as a a Sport and Exercise for Health student at University of Kent.
Panic swept through the Dockside shopping centre in Chatham, Kent, after the woman allegedly had her throat slashed while trying to escape from a locked car.
Emergency services descended on the scene, including London’s Air Ambulance which was seen overhead, but despite paramedics’s best efforts, she died at the scene.
Her next of kin have been informed.

A spokesman for Kent police said: “The woman, believed to be aged in her 20s, suffered injuries consistent with a stabbing and died at the scene.”
The spokesman added: “The victim and suspect are believed to be known to each other.”
The centre went into lockdown as witnesses reported a man with “blood up to his elbows”.
Michelle Hextall told Express.co.uk how the victim desperately tried to get attention by beeping the horn of the car.
She said: “The woman was screaming and bibbing the horn to get attention.
“Another shopper blocked the car in so he couldn’t escape.

“She did not manage to get out of the car.”
Heroic shoppers tried to box the car – a black Peugeot 107 – in to stop the suspected attacker fleeing the scene.
Ms Hextall added: “Attacker was then put into police van. Didn’t appear to resist arrest.
“His hands were covered in blood up to his elbows. Blood on t-shirt.”
Rosie Bell, 25, described the scene as she arrived.
She said: “Apparently a woman had been locked in her car by the guy.

“He’s then come back to the car, got in the car and stabbed her and then slit her throat.
“No-one could actually see the row that was happening because it was happening inside the car.
“Someone heard the woman screaming and people were running over shouting at the guy.

“He was in a bit of state so people didn’t want to approach him.”
Scared onlookers described mayhem and confusion in the centre car park on Thursday morning as a man was seen “covered in blood”.
Photos showed the vehicle covered in blood and a tent was later erected with forensic officers sweeping the area.

The MP for Rochester and Strood, Kelly Tolhurst, tweeted: “Shocked & devastated by the horrific incident at Dockside – police in attendance and investigating.”
Kent police said: “A 25-year-old man from Rochester was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.”
