The radio caller hailed last year’s referendum result, which saw 17.4million people back Leave, as a “brave” decision.

Speaking to LBC’s Andrew Pierce, she said the UK had made a “bold escape” after responding to a previous caller “scared” about the break from the bloc.

The woman said: “The very cautious chap who wanted to stay in because it was all too scary and going to be very unpleasant if we left because he would rather stay with what he knows.

“It’s not going to stay the same at all, it is going to be completely different and we will have no control whatsoever over any of the changes.”

The comments come after International Trade Secretary Liam Fox claimed there is no Cabinet agreement on whether Britain should allow free movement of people for three years after Brexit.

The politician, who has been travelling the world in a bid to secure trade deals once the UK leaves the clutches of the EU, said any move to continue accepting free movement would “not keep faith” with the referendum result.

Dr Fox told the Sunday Times: “If there have been discussions on that I have not been party to them. I have not been involved in any discussions on that.”

It comes after Chancellor Philip Hammond claimed that Britain could agree a “transition” deal with Brussels until 2022 in a bid to stop the UK crashing out the EU without any deal.
