Officials were warned that trouble was ‘brewing’
Inmates ‘seized control of two wings’ at a prison today with riot staff drafted in to try and establish order.
More than 1,000 criminals are housed at the male prison HMP the Mount, where there are staff shortages and prisoners were said to be on lockdown.
Just two days ago, officials were warned that trouble was ‘brewing’ at the category C prison.
The Ministry of Justice said specially trained staff are attempting to resolve the incident involving ‘a number of prisoners’, but did not reveal the nature of the disturbance.
