Sacked Catalonian president Carles Puigdemont and 13 other
members of his former government have been summoned to appear in
Spain’s high court later this week.
“The Audiencia National has now summoned the sacked Catalan
officials – who are yet to be formally charged – to testify on
Thursday and Friday. If they do not appear, prosecutors could order
their arrest,” the BBC reports.
The high court has also ordered the officials to pay a €6.2m
(£5.4m) deposit to cover any potential liabilities.

“Puigdemont, who could face charges of rebellion, sedition and
misuse of public funds over his administration’s push for
independence, travelled to Brussels hours before Spain’s
attorney general announced the possible charges on Monday,” The Guardian says.
Speaking from Brussels, Puigdemont has told media that he would
return to Spain and respect the results of a snap election, called
for 21 December.
However, Puigdemont was seeking guarantees that Spain would
accept the election result if power in Catalan was restored to
secessionists.
“I want a clear commitment from the state. Will the state
respect the results that could give separatist forces a majority?”
Mr Puigdemont said.
