WITH early mornings, I am a “fake it ’til you make it” girlI often wake up and tell myself: “Tonight, I will go to bed as soon as the kids do.”
It never happens. As they sleep, the chores and general adulting occur.

After that, I crave “me time” – watching telly, looking online or having a bath.
Before I know it, it is midnight and I’m glued to a crime programme.
So even if I feel it, I don’t want to look tired.
So I have five-minute morning miracles to disguise my fatigue.
Peta Todd finds herself up til midnight after settling down to have some ‘me time’
My favourite is Embryolisse’s Beauty Cooling Stick. Its cooling effect gives instant freshness
Try a moisturising drop with a little reflective magic for the same glow as a month of lie-ins. I sometimes use it as a highlighter or add it to my foundation. Tarte Rainforest of the Sea radiance drops, £30, tartecosmetics.co.uk.
Eyebrows make the woman. A light pencil or brow gel can make all the difference. Benefit’s is angled so you can’t botch the shape and the brush at the other end makes taming brows easy. Benefit Goof-Proof Eyebrow Pencil, £20.50, Boots.
Wrap yourself in a brightly coloured scarf. Perfect to hide any breakouts or distract from pale and tired skin.
Peta’s advice for most situations, from fatigue or moving house, drink some water
Dry shampoo sprayed in the night BEFORE is my secret to bouncy, grease-free hair. Using it in the morning can leave you with floury white patches. Batiste Dry Shampoo Original, 200ml, £1.48 (reduced from £2.99), Superdrug
Hats, bright lips, comedy glasses . . . own that dishevelled look and hope nobody makes eye contact
And my go-to for all worries – be it fatigue, moving house or even arachnophobia – drink more water.
