TIRELESS Rob Pope is recreating film hero Forrest Gump’s epic trek by running across America three times.
Vet Rob has beaten Forrest’s 15,348 miles and aims to clock up 15,600.

He has averaged 40 miles a day and battled temperatures from -18C to 40C since starting out in Mobile, Alabama.
Super-fit Rob, 39, has visited landmarks from the 1994 film during his 409-day marathon and says well-wishers yelling “Run, Forrest, Run” like in the movie have spurred him on.
Rob, who has grown a beard like Tom Hanks’ character and wears an identical hat, said: “I’d wanted to run across America and had a lightbulb moment watching the film.

“I didn’t train specifically and wish I had but Forrest just put on his shoes and went so I figured I’d do the same.”
Rob has flown home to Liverpool to be with girlfriend Nadine for their first child’s birth but will return for his last 200 miles.
