Love Island: where are the past winners now?

Hot tubs and TV cameras are rarely a recipe
for long-term romance but there are exceptions

ITV has confirmed the full cast for the new series. It includes
West End performer Samira Mighty, former boyband member Eyal Booker
and Danny Dyer’s daughter Dani.

Love Island was a huge hit last year. Audiences were gripped by
the blossoming relationships and dramas of life in a luxury Majorca
villa, says the Daily Express, and the show became a summer
phenomenon across the UK.

“This is first-crush stuff – the giggly, excitable relationships
you had, or talked about, at school (minus the breast implants,
swimwear uniform and infrared sub-duvet action, presumably),”
writes The Guardian’s Emine Saner. “And that
nostalgia for school-canteen gossip, I think, is why it is so
popular.”

But what has happened to the previous years’ winners?

Season 1: Jessica Hayes and Max Morley

The inaugural season of the revived Love Island series saw
Jessica Hayes, 24, and Max Morley, 25, spark up a relationship, and
take home the top prize.

Just six weeks after leaving the villa the couple split up,
according to OK! Magazine.

“Jessica has pursued her modelling career and has listed herself
as a model and influencer on her Instagram account,” says the
magazine. “Following her split from Max, Jess is believed to
have found love again, and has gushed about her new mystery man on
social media.” 

Max, meanwhile, appeared on another reality TV show, Ex On The
Beach, last year. He also lists himself as a model on his Instagram
page.

He has previously been romantically linked to former Geordie
Shore star Charlotte Crosby, as well as Zara Holland, who competed
on Love Island in 2016, The Sun adds. Max is now thought to be dating
an air hostess called Kate.

Season 2: Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey

Circus performer Cara De La Hoyde, 27, and carpenter Nathan
Massey, 25, were crowned winners of Love Island 2016 after a
whirlwind romance.

The couple split up in 2017, one month before Cara announced she
was pregnant with Nathan’s child.

Shortly before the birth of the baby, named Freddie-George, the
couple got back together. The Sun says the pair have confessed their son
has strengthened their relationship and this could result in
marriage.

Nathan told OK! Magazine: “We’ve got much stronger; Fred
has brought us closer together. A year ago the pressures of coming
off a TV show like that got a bit too much and we split up.

“But since we’ve had Fred, I don’t think we’ve argued once – we
get on so well now. Having Fred completely changed our relationship
for the better.”

Season 3: Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies

Hairdresser Kem Cetinay, 22, and Amber Davies, 21, who stormed
to victory on Love Island 2017, split up in December after 132 days
together, says Cosmopolitan.

“With sadness, we’ve decided to separate,” Kem and Amber said in
a statement. “We fell in love in the villa and want to thank all
the fans of the show for supporting us. We’ll remain good
friends.”

Amber said on Twitter: “Would just like to say I am incredibly
overwhelmed by everyone’s lovely messages and comments. The love
and support from you all has been absolutely heartwarming. Thank
you so much.”

The statement came as an insider claimed the couple had been
struggling to make it work due to their busy schedules.

“They’ve been at each other’s necks for the past month”, the
source told The Sun. “They’ve been living on top of each
other and clashed over the smallest things.

“It’s also been very hard for them to see each other with their
hectic schedules. They tried to make it work but realised they want
different things and being together was too tough.”

Amber has since started a relationship with James Hawkins.

The new season of Love Island airs on Monday June 4 at 9pm on
ITV2.
