Parents jailed after leaving girl, 2, to freeze to death on porch

The mother of a two-year-old girl who froze to death on their porch has been jailed.

Tierra Williams, 23, was sentenced to 18 months in prison after she pleaded guilty to endangering the life of her daughter Wynter Parker.

The toddler died in February last year after she ended up on the porch of her home in Akron, Ohio, alone in temperatures of below -7C.

Williams found Wynter unconscious and immediately called emergency services.

She was not wearing a coat and it was later confirmed the cause of her death was severe hypothermia.

Williams had left her in the care of her ex-partner Dariaun Parker, 25, who also admitted child endangering at a court appearance in November.

He was jailed for two years.

Williams, who pregnant when the incident happened last year, told authorities she had gone out with her son, four, for two hours.

Police had been called to the couple’s home before after receiving reports their children were outside by themselves, the court heard.
