Pregnant woman dragged off train says she still fears for her baby’s life

A pregnant woman who was dragged off a train by two security guards in Sweden has revealed how she feared for her baby’s life.

Shocking video footage showed the expecting mother, who is due in 20 days, being pulled off the carriage and pinned face down on a bench as her daughter stands by crying hysterically.

‘It felt like I was in a nightmare, a dream I couldn’t believe,’ the woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, told Metro.co.uk.

‘I lost my last child at eight months pregnancy so to be eight months pregnant and go through this treatment is something I can’t put into words.

‘All I was thinking when they dragged me and laid me on my stomach and sat on me was: ‘”My baby! Don’t hurt my baby”.’

She has since been to hospital, where doctors said the baby’s condition was stable – but she will have to wait another 24 hours to ensure the unborn child will be fine.

The two men who dragged her off the train at the Hotorget station, in Stockholm, have both been suspended pending an investigation.

Activist Lovette Jallow, who shared a video of the incident on her Instagram, told Metro.co.uk that the mother had been left ‘bruised and traumatised’ by the ordeal.

‘These incidents are very common especially with brutality at the hands of guards and sometimes police,’ she said.

‘According to statistics from the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention, aftoswedes makeup 300,000 people out of a population of 11 million.

‘Unfortunately we are the group that is number one on the list of violent hate crimes, and only 4% of those crimes ever reach courts.

‘It show you systematically how black Swedes are treated in Sweden.’

The footage has since sparking a debate over accusations of racial profiling by police and security personnel in Sweden.

Stockholm Public Transport officer Claes Keisu said that the guards involved may have gone too far, but declined to offer further comment until the investigation is completed.

He told Sky News: ‘When meeting a pregnant woman travelling with a small child, should not then some precautions have been taken by the security guards?

‘We don’t why the security guards chose to intervene in this way, but that’s something we will find out.’
