January transfer window 2022 done deals: Full list of Premier League transfers and when deadline day is

A number of Premier League clubs at both ends of the table are expected to conduct meaningful business in the transfer market now that the January window is officially open.

Much has changed at relegation-threatened Newcastle since they were last able to buy players. Joe Willock was the sole arrival in the summer, but as many as six new recruits could be brought in by the club’s new owners this month to equip Eddie Howe with a squad capable of survival. As reported by i, Newcastle were confident of making Atletico Madrid and England right-back Kieran Trippier their first signing, and that deal was completed on 7 January.

Trippier’s former club Tottenham could also be busy, judging by Antonio Conte’s recent comments. “After only two weeks, I said we need to improve the quality of the squad,” the Italian said before the New Year’ Day win at Watford. “For sure, now the situation is more clear than before. I am waiting to have a meeting with the club and then also to give my opinion about the squad and what I think about our situation.” Tanguy Ndombele could be one of those headed for the exit door.

Another new manager who may look to remodel an inherited squad is Manchester United’s Ralf Rangnick, who will remain at Old Trafford beyond the end of the campaign on a consultancy basis. A number of fringe players have been tipped to depart, including Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial, Phil Jones, Donny van de Beek and Dean Henderson. Edinson Cavani looks set to stay on until the summer, however.

Although the window only opened on 1 January, some big deals have already been completed. Ferran Torres officially completed his £54.8m move from Manchester City to Barcelona after agreeing terms with the La Liga club in December. “I’ve always said it, it was very clear to me. I went to City to return to one of the greats in Spain,” Torres said mischievously at his Nou Camp unveiling.

Elsewhere, Everton have bolstered their full-back options in the first four days of the window by signing Ukrainian left-back Vitaliy Mykolenko from Dynamo Kiev and Scotland right-back Nathan Patterson from Rangers. Lucas Digne has been tipped to leave Goodison Park this month following a falling out with Rafa Benitez, with Aston Villa emerging as the most likely destination for the French full-back. Steven Gerrard has already brought in his former Liverpool teammate Philippe Coutinho on loan from Barcelona.

Although Premier League clubs are better shielded against the financial implications of the pandemic than most businesses, expect a few of them to be sniffing around players who will be out of contract at the end of the season. Clubs are able to agree pre-contract deals with foreign-based players entering the final six months of their contracts under the Bosman ruling.

The transfer window will shut at 11pm [GMT] on Monday 31 January. Here are all the deals completed so far.
