CHRIS SUTTON has slammed Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku for ‘hiding’ in his seven-touch cameo against Crystal Palace.

The Belgian failed to score for the fourth Premier League game in a row and has been slammed for his poor performances for the European champions this season.

Lukaku has been criticised by former Chelsea player Sutton, who managed just one goal for the club

And former Blues flop Sutton, who managed just ONE goal Chelsea in 28 games, wasn’t pulling any punches in his criticism of the big money forward.

Sutton told the Daily Mail: “I had ever finished a game having had only seven touches of the ball, I’d feel embarrassed walking back into that training ground.

“For a striker to come out of 90 minutes with that sorry statistic screams ‘I’m hiding’ and there’s no escaping that for Romelu Lukaku.

“Maybe he will blame a lack of service, but that’s only part of the problem. If Lukaku wanted to touch the ball more than seven times against Crystal Palace, he could have done.

“He could have made better movements. He could have made it impossible for his team-mates to ignore him.”

On the other hand, former Belgium striker Nordin Jbari believes it is Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel who needs to ‘take a step towards’ the striker to get the best out of him.

Jbari said: “Chelsea and Tuchel need to understand they signed a world class star who’s a goalscoring machine.

“If it doesn’t work, maybe it’s because the environment isn’t the best for it to work. Short term, it’s Tuchel who needs to take a step towards Lukaku.

“He was the missing link at Chelsea. They lacked this type of striker, this finisher.

“They now have him and they paid a lot to have him. Tuchel must therefore do everything so that it works.”
