AT least one person has died after a plane crashed and burst into flames at the Reno Air Races, shocking livestream footage shows.
The deceased pilot was flying in the championship round near a Nevada airport when the tragedy took place, according to officials.

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were responding to an air races related crash, News 4 reported.
A local journalist tweeted a video of the exact moment the plane fell to the ground.
The plane appears to fall toward the ground before exploding in a fiery crash that horrified the announcers.
“We’ve had a catastrophe here,” one announcer said on the livestream.
Fred Telling, the CEO and president of the Reno Air Racing Association, confirmed the fatality saying the crash happened on lap three of six during the race.
The pilot’s name has not been released.
Telling offered his condolences to the family of the unnamed pilot and anyone who witnesses the horror crash.
This comes as agencies were able to quickly put out the fire started by the crash, according to News 4.

Air race officials told bystanders to avoid the area of the crash as they investigated the situation.
A spokesperson with the Reno Air Races released a statement following the tragic event.
“At this time we are gathering information and confirming details of the incident that happened today during the Jet Gold Race,” the statement reads.
“We can confirm that only one plane was involved. The National Championship Air Races has suspended all operations for the 2022 event, and we will provide an update as soon as it’s available.
“NTSB and FAA will be investigating the incident.”
