Angie, who posts under @angieonaadventure, shared how you should tackle these things immediately if you want a fragrant pad.

In a clip which has racked up over 406,000 likes, she said: “Fallen victim of all these things.

“The amount of people who have a fear of having a bad smelling house is real.”

SHOES

The first area that often goes unnoticed is shoes by the front door.

Not only can they look unsightly if they aren’t neatly ordered, but they also can smell pongy too.

Angie explained: “If worn often, the sweat and moisture can cause an off smell.”

To tackle this, the cleaner recommends using a shoe spray to eliminate any odours.

SHOWER MATS

The next danger zone can be in your bathroom with your bath mats.

Angie explained: “Over time, they grow mould after getting wet often.

“Even washing won’t help so best to replace.”

Instead of a fluffy fabric one, the cleaner recommends getting a stone one instead.

BINS

It goes without saying that bins can be a smelly part of your home if you aren’t careful.

Angie said: “Sometimes you have spills that you don’t realise. Wipe the whole trash can every so often to make sure it stays fresh.”

The professional advised you to put cotton pads with essential oils at the bottom to help with the issue.

CLOTH CHAIRS

Another area which can cause odours is in your lounge with chairs that have been there for a while.

Angie explained that old fabric can smell, and a fabric spray is just a “temporary fix.”

DOG BEDS

Finally, if you have a pooch at home, you may need to pay particular attention to their bed.

The cleaner advised that to keep odours at bay, you should vacuum it often and wash them if you can.

She advised that you pick one where you can remove the fabric.

Many people were impressed with the tips, with one saying: “Stone mat is so smart.”

Another added: “just remembered it’s about time to wash my dogs bed.”

5 cleaning hacks

Say goodbye to ironing
Don’t have time to smooth out the wrinkles of a shirt with an iron? Lenor‘s Crease Releaser makes wrinkles vanish – simply hang up creased items, give them a quick spritz and smooth against a hard surface.
Teabags for trainers
When trainers smell a little squiffy, pop a used (and still moist) tea bag inside and leave for about an hour. The tannins will seep into the sole of the shoe to fight nasty-smelling odours.
Remove limescale without scrubbing
When bathroom taps start looking a little grimy with limescale, slice a lemon in half and sprinkle on baking soda. Rub the fruit over the taps and with a gentle clean they will come up sparkling. Use a toothbrush to get in all the nooks and crannies.
Streak-free mirrors and windowsWhite vinegar is a handy secret weapon when it comes to keeping mirrors and windows streak-free. Mix one part white vinegar with four parts water in a spray bottle. Squirt then wipe with a microfibre cloth and voilà, clean glass in an instant.
Make your home smell amazing For dust-free skirting boards, pour some fabric softener onto a cloth and give them a quick wipe. It will stop dirt collecting so quickly and, as an added bonus, make your home smell amazing.
