GERWYN PRICE stunned a commentator with a bizarre tactic as he was dumped out of the World Grand Prix by Luke Littler.

The Iceman threw away a two-set lead in agonising fashion to the world champion in a thrilling match.

Littler looked down and out at one stage, but rallied in the third set and the momentum began to swing.

He broke Price’s throw to lead 1-0 and then got off to a fast start in the second leg, while his opponent failed to hit a double to get his leg underway.

Price missed his first six attempts at double while Littler stormed ahead, with a 180 leaving just 134 to seal the leg.

With the leg all but over Price decided he would have some practice darts, and had a go at hitting double 13 – much to the commentator’s dismay.

Sky Sports’ Mark Webster said: “Is my interpretation right there that Gerwyn Price hit the double 13 with his second dart and then just thought, ‘oh I’ll have more practice on the 13 because I’ve been missing’.

“That is what he is doing! That is what he is doing! He is giving up the leg to get some practice in on double 13.”

Littler of course won the leg and the following one to claim his first set.

He then levelled the match to send it to a deciding set, with Price failing to hold his nerve as he missed three darts to grab a semi-final place.

The match went down to the final leg and Price again had difficulty finding a double.

But he was set to throw for the match again before Littler checked out a sensational 152 finish to book his place in Saturday’s semis.

The world champion said after his win: “It was very, very strange. Obviously I wasn’t happy going 2-0 down.

“First and second set I was just on the wire every single time. I couldn’t get those doubles in. My sore throat is definitely worth it!

“I went 2-0 up and I thought I’m guaranteed on my throw to throw for the match. I said to myself this has to go and it went.”
