Motorbike gangs speed through cities across Britain in terrifying ‘Mad Max’ style rampage

London, Birmingham and Leeds have all been targeted by huge gangs of dangerous riders, who sped both through roads and pedestrian areas.

Shocking footage taken by witnesses show hundreds of people on motorbikes or quad bikes roaring through streets in a seemingly never-ending stream, with stunned passers-by looking on. 

One witness even compared the scenes to Max Max, the dystopian action film featuring lawless, motorbike-riding protagonists. 

In London, police stopped numerous motorbikes and quad bikes as reckless riders sped through the capital.

Officers even used spike strips to stop drivers in London Bridge, with one witness saying the riders were displaying “proper w***** behaviour”. 

A police spokesman said: “On Sunday, 30 October police received reports of a number of these riders engaging in anti-social behaviour.

“Over the course of the evening offers stopped 20 vehicles – 17 motorbikes and three quad bikes – at various locations across the Capital. 

“Eight people were arrested for a variety of offences including assault on police, failing to stop and dangerous driving.”

In Leeds, a huge gang of motorcyclists raced through Kirkstall Road, causing pedestrians to shelter on the side of the road.

Social media users reacted with shock to the rampage, with one saying: “Kirkstall Road is like something out of Mad Max tonight.”

Another said: “This is getting kinda scary now. Crazy bikers still up and down Kirkstall Road.”

A third posted: “People on Facebook talking about walking scared people home from Kirkstall Road and children trapped in neighbours homes because of bikers.”

Hundreds of riders also sped through Birmingham

The city’s transport authority Metro said the road was eventually closed due to “a crowd with motorbikes and quad bikes racing up and down the road.”

A spokesman added: “The bikers are racing through various roads in Leeds city centre. Expect service disruption – unfortunately it’s not possible to predict.”

Similar scenes took place in Birmingham, with Kings Norton Fire Station posting a video of “100s” of riders speeding through one road.

They posted: “Be careful if you encounter this tonight! 100’s of bikes and quads about!”
