ONE of the UK’s leading car bosses has urged the PM to speed up Brexit negotiations – warning of new cars piled up at Calais.

He said that while firms could cope with additional paperwork they needed time to prepare for it.

He told The Sun: “What I can’t cope with is my cars being stuck at a French port for six months.”

But Mr Palmer broadly backed Britain’s exit strategy against Brussels saying “you can never declare your hand in a negotiation otherwise you are not negotiating any more.”

Travelling with the PM to Japan on a trade mission, he also welcomed Mrs May’s “breakthrough” plan to copy and paste a ream of EU trade deals.

He said the plan “makes sense because you’re starting from something you know” helping to remove “uncertainties.”
