FOR months our Brexit negotiators were dismissed as rank amateurs up against Brussels’ experienced, cunning pros.
What drivel it has turned out to be.
Michel Barnier and his EU bunch only seem to excel in being arrogant and naive
The EU’s team excel only in arrogance, inflexibility and naivety.
Their leader Michel Barnier has hamstrung negotiations from the off by insisting no trade talks can take place until we settle his monstrous “divorce” bill.
Now he even wants money for eco projects after we’ve left.
Three cheers for the Whitehall bean-counter who dismantled his demands line-by-line as the EU team sat “flabbergasted”.
Of course they were.
Brussels has only known countries and electorates doing exactly what it wants.
Tony Blair and Jean Claude Juncker shared a cosy smooch yesterday
The EU has badly misjudged Britain, assuming us to be begging for any deal.
We won’t.
Theresa May said “no deal” was better than a bad one and she was right to do so.
By contrast Jeremy Corbyn’s “team” would already have written Barnier his 100billion euro cheque.
There is now ample proof that the EU is keener on revenge than a deal that would benefit citizens across Europe.
Yet Remain diehards here cheer them on instead of British negotiators battling for the interests of our taxpayers.
Their figurehead Tony Blair even cosied up to Jean-Claude Juncker yesterday.
Well, they do have much in common.
Like so many Remainers, they only approve of democratic votes which go their way.

Suicide Tories
WE despair at Tory backbenchers who would flirt with their own Government’s destruction to keep us shackled to the EU.
Other nations are lining up to strike trade deals after Brexit.
It is a golden opportunity for them and us.
Japan joined the queue yesterday, in a victory for Theresa May.
Japan’s Shinzo Abe gave the green light to a handy Japan-UK trade deal yesterday
The Sun’s political editor Tom Newton Dunn says Theresa May comments about staying as PM were a mistake
Its prime minister Shinzo Abe said he had “trust in the UK economy after Brexit” and signed a promise to “work quickly to establish a new economic partnership”.
What a shame he cannot convince Anna Soubry and other Tory Remainers who intend to take advantage of the Government’s Commons weakness to insist we stay in the customs union.
That’s the worst-case scenario under which we nominally leave the EU only to stay tied for ever to its trade policy, banned from making our own deals.
It is sheer madness, “softening” Brexit while snuffing out our future in the wide world beyond the Brussels club.
And it could fatally compromise a government with no majority, and hand power to Corbyn’s Marxists.
They need their heads testing.

Time to give him a brake.
